Columbus Man Sentenced to Over 14 Years for Meth Distribution
Quantay Thomas

Quantay Thomas, a 40-year-old Columbus resident with prior convictions for aggravated assault and illegal firearm possession, was sentenced to 175 months in federal prison on December 17 for distributing methamphetamine. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Clay Land, will be followed by three years of supervised release.

Thomas pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine on August 20, 2024. He has a history of violent crime, including prior convictions for aggravated assault and drug-related offenses.

“This sentence holds repeat armed offenders like Thomas accountable for their crimes, which continue to fuel violence in the Columbus community,” said U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary. “Our office will continue working with local, state, and federal law enforcement to bring these criminals to justice, no matter how long it takes.”

DEA agents first began investigating Thomas in 2019. On May 17, 2019, a controlled buy at a Columbus gas station resulted in the purchase of 55.64 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine. Another buy on September 6, 2019, netted 51.81 grams of methamphetamine. Warrants were issued for Thomas’s arrest after these transactions.

On November 29, 2023, DEA agents executed a search warrant at a residence on Double Churches Road, where they found Thomas in possession of a loaded Glock .45 caliber pistol and three bags of methamphetamine. The bags contained 418.93 grams of methamphetamine, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s drug lab analysis.

Thomas’s criminal history includes multiple convictions in Muscogee County for aggravated assault, illegal firearm possession, and drug distribution.

This case was investigated by the DEA, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Williams and Crawford Seals.
