Suspect Arrested After Knife Threat and Overnight Manhunt in Stephens County
On Monday, November 11, deputies from the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call in the Whispering Woods area of Martin, Georgia, around 5:51 p.m. Reports indicated that a male caller and a female homeowner were being threatened with a knife by a man identified as Clinton Miller, 48, of Athens.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that Miller no longer had the knife and had possibly fled on foot behind the residence after hearing the victims call 911. According to statements, the incident began when the male caller confronted Miller, who had been staying at the home but had overstayed his welcome. Following a physical altercation, Miller allegedly became aggressive, grabbing a kitchen knife and waving it at the caller and homeowner.
Deputies searched the property but were unable to locate Miller. The K-9 Unit, including K-9s Reba and Lady, attempted to track Miller, while another deputy deployed a drone to gain an aerial view. Despite efforts, the trail went cold, and deputies called off the search around 9:30 p.m., suspecting that Miller may have been picked up by a vehicle.
The following afternoon, at approximately 2:15 p.m. on November 12, deputies from the Special Tactics and Intervention Narcotics Group (S.T.I.N.G.) received a tip that Miller had returned to the residence. Deputies entered the home with permission and apprehended Miller without incident. Miller, who now faces an Aggravated Assault charge, was transported to the Stephens County Jail, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond. The male victim has since been granted a temporary restraining order against Miller by the superior court.
