Columbus Police Department Arrests Three Fugitives in Warrant Roundup Operation
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Columbus Police Department’s (CPD) Fugitive Unit conducted a successful warrant roundup, resulting in the arrest of three individuals wanted on multiple charges. The operation focused on high-crime areas, enabling the apprehension of dangerous fugitives and the resolution of numerous outstanding warrants.

- Esa G. Brooks, 46
- Charges: Battery (Family Violence), Aggravated Assault
- James H. Smith, 55
- Charge: Burglary
- Lend Linson, 31
- Charges:
- Cruelty to Children (3 warrants)
- Aggravated Assault (2 warrants)
- Terroristic Threats (5 warrants)
- Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Battery (2 warrants)
- Burglary
- Criminal Damage to Property (2nd Degree)
- Possession of Firearm During Crime (2 warrants)

During the operation, Linson barricaded himself inside his residence at Farley Homes. The CPD’s Drone Unit provided aerial support, utilizing advanced drone technology to safely clear the residence following Linson’s arrest. This technology enabled CPD to secure the situation with minimal risk to officers and the community.
