Broxton Police Arrest Drug Dealer After Narcotics Investigation Leads to Seizure of Methamphetamine

BROXTON, Ga. – A joint narcotics investigation by the Broxton Police Department and the Douglas-Coffee County Drug Unit resulted in the arrest of a Broxton man on charges of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

According to the Broxton Police Department, investigators conducted surveillance on July 8 at locations on Ricketson Street and Railroad Street after receiving information about suspected illegal drug activity.

During the operation, officers observed what they believed to be a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction involving Jason Donald Voorhees, 44, of Broxton.

Investigators made contact with the individuals involved and reported finding suspected methamphetamine, digital scales and other evidence consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search related to the investigation led to the recovery of additional digital scales.

Authorities said the suspected methamphetamine seized during the investigation weighed approximately 11.3 grams using non-certified scales.

Voorhees was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail, where he remains in custody.

The Broxton Police Department said the case demonstrates how proactive police work and routine observations can uncover more significant criminal activity. Officials also credited the Douglas-Coffee County Drug Unit, Coffee County Sheriff Fred T. Cole and members of the community for their continued partnership in combating illegal drug activity.
