Columbus Woman Dies Following Shooting at Grove Park Apartments

On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at approximately 8:52 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1400 block of Grove Park Drive at the Grove Park Apartments. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female, later identified as 24-year-old Jabreia Burston, lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel transported Burston to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for further treatment.

The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take over the investigation. On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, Burston was pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m. by an emergency room doctor.
