Waycross Police Officer, Woman Arrested Following GBI Investigation into Confrontation
WAYCROSS, Ga. A Waycross police officer and a Pierce County woman have been arrested on simple battery charges following a Georgia Bureau of Investigation inquiry into an alleged confrontation outside a medical office.
According to the GBI, 30-year-old Marc Horne of Waycross and 51-year-old Kisha Music of Blackshear were arrested Friday and each charged with simple battery.
Horne was employed as an officer with the Waycross Police Department at the time of the incident. Chief Tommy Cox has announced that Horne has resigned.
The investigation began after the Waycross Police Department requested the GBI investigate allegations stemming from a confrontation between Horne and Music on May 28.
Investigators said Horne was off duty at the time of the incident, which occurred in front of a local medical office during normal business hours. Music is the grandmother of Horne’s child.
According to police reports, Horne was going to meet with his child’s mother to go to an appointment. The child’s grandmother arrived before the mother and that’s when the incident occurred.
Both Horne and Music were arrested on July 10 and booked into the Ware County Jail.
The GBI said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
