High-Speed Motorcycle Crash Claims Life in Southwest Atlanta Intersection

On June 21, 2024, a two-vehicle collision in southwest Atlanta claimed the life of a 36-year-old motorcycle rider. Atlanta Police Zone 4 officers rushed to the scene at Greenbriar Parkway SW and Continental Colony Parkway SW around 11:08 p.m. following reports of the crash.

Upon arrival, officers found a Honda CR-V and a Kawasaki motorcycle involved in the incident. The motorcycle operator, a 36-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical responders transported a passenger of the motorcycle to the hospital in critical condition. The 29-year-old female driver of the Honda CR-V was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the Honda CR-V, heading north on Continental Colony Parkway SW, was attempting to turn left onto Greenbriar Parkway SW when it collided with the southbound Kawasaki motorcycle. The motorcycle was reportedly traveling at a high speed and attempting to continue straight through the intersection, splitting lanes.

The Accident Investigations Unit is now investigating the circumstances of the collision.
