Two People Shot in Southeast Atlanta in Possibly Related Incidents, Police Say

ATLANTA, Ga. – Atlanta police are investigating two shootings that occurred within minutes of each other Monday afternoon and believe the incidents may be connected.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers assigned to Zone 3 responded at approximately 3:41 p.m. on Aug. 10 to a report of a person shot at 2245 Browns Mill Road SE.

When officers arrived, they found an 84-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was alert, conscious, and breathing before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Just 13 minutes later, at approximately 3:54 p.m., Zone 3 officers responded to a second shooting in the 400 block of Lindsey Drive SE.

There, officers found a 21-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was also alert, conscious, and breathing when he was transported by ambulance to a hospital.

Investigators Believe Shootings May Be Connected

Preliminary information indicates both victims may have been struck by gunfire originating in the area of East Rhinehill Road SE and Browns Mill Road SE.

Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Aggravated Assault Unit responded to determine the circumstances surrounding the shootings.

Police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities noted that the information released is preliminary and could change as investigators gather additional evidence.
