Single-Vehicle Crash in Clarke County Claims Life of Colbert Man

In the early hours of June 2, 2024, tragedy struck on the ramp from US 29 South to the outer loop 10, westbound. At approximately 1:16 AM, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a 2002 white Ford F-150.
According to ACCPD’s preliminary investigation, the driver, identified as 34-year-old Joseph Michael Pigage from Colbert, Georgia, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the ramp. The truck veered off the roadway multiple times before overturning and coming to a rest. Investigators determined that speed played a role in the accident.
Pigage sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
The incident marks the third fatality crash in Athens-Clarke County for the year 2024.
