Missing 6-Year-Old Found Dead in Pond After Extensive Search in Clayton County
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 6-year-old boy who was the subject of an extensive search has been found dead, according to the Clayton County Police Department.
Authorities announced that Ramon “RJ” Jett was located deceased in a pond near the area where he was last seen.
Police said RJ’s family has been notified.
The circumstances surrounding the child’s death remain under investigation, and officials have not released additional details.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the Clayton County Police Department said in a statement. “At this stage, no additional information will be released as detectives continue their work to determine the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.”
The department thanked the numerous agencies and organizations that assisted in the search effort, including the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the cities of Morrow and Jonesboro, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Team Adam, Troup County Fire Department, volunteers, and community partners.
Police also expressed appreciation to community members who shared information, distributed alerts, and assisted in the search.
The Clayton County Police Department asked the public to keep RJ’s family and loved ones in their thoughts and to respect their privacy as they grieve.
