Accidental Gun Discharge Inside Ellenwood Walmart Injures Two, Two Men Arrested

ELLENWOOD, Ga. – Two men have been arrested after an accidental gun discharge inside a Walmart left two shoppers with minor injuries Wednesday afternoon, according to the Clayton County Police Department.

Officers were already at the Walmart in the 2000 block of Anvil Block Road at approximately 4:47 p.m. on Aug. 5 when they were alerted that a firearm had been discharged inside the store.

Police immediately evacuated the store while officers secured the scene and launched an investigation.

One victim suffered a graze wound and was treated at the scene by the Clayton County Fire Department. Authorities said the injury was not life-threatening. A second victim later reported that he had also been grazed by the bullet but declined medical treatment.

Investigators determined that Quentendou Arnold accidentally discharged a firearm while inside the store. Police said the bullet ricocheted before striking both victims.

After the shooting, Arnold left the store but was later located and taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, surveillance video and witness statements supported the conclusion that the firearm discharged accidentally.

During the investigation, detectives also determined that Demonta Arnold allegedly attempted to interfere with the investigation by providing false information and tampering with evidence.

Quentendou Arnold was charged with reckless conduct, obstruction and making false statements.

Demonta Arnold was charged with obstruction.

The Clayton County Police Department said the investigation remains active.
