Ellenwood Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 20 Years After Jury Conviction

DEKALB COUNTY, GA – A DeKalb County jury has convicted an Ellenwood man on multiple drug trafficking and firearms charges after investigators uncovered a large-scale drug operation at his home.

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announced that on June 3, 2026, a jury found 41-year-old Vincent Denard Simon guilty of:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking Marijuana
  • Two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

The charges stem from a Georgia Bureau of Investigation narcotics investigation that culminated in the execution of a search warrant at Simon’s residence on Ward Lake Way in Ellenwood on Feb. 6, 2024.

According to prosecutors, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation received information that Simon was selling illegal drugs from his home. Investigators conducted controlled drug purchases from Simon before obtaining a search warrant for the residence.

When agents searched the property, they discovered a large quantity of narcotics and firearms.

Investigators seized approximately 132 pounds of marijuana, nearly one kilogram of methamphetamine pills, additional unidentified pills and powders, and more than 40 firearms.

Authorities said the weapons included rifles, shotguns, handguns, and several automatic firearms.

Evidence collected during the search was submitted to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory, where testing confirmed that some of the seized pills contained methamphetamine.

Following the conviction, a sentencing hearing was held on June 4, 2026.

DeKalb County Magistrate Judge Matthew McCoyd, sitting by designation for Superior Court, sentenced Simon to 20 years in prison followed by 40 years of probation.

In addition to the prison sentence, Simon was ordered to pay a $1.1 million fine.

The case was prosecuted by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Unit. Senior Assistant District Attorney Reid White led the prosecution with assistance from Assistant District Attorney Brittany Carter.

The investigation was led by Georgia Bureau of Investigation Assistant Special Agent in Charge R. Jordan.
