Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child in DeKalb County

DECATUR, Ga. — Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman and her unborn child at a residence in Decatur.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office announced that, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, deputies arrested Devin Lamar Anthony on June 16, 2026, following the shooting death of 23-year-old Shakiya Pridgen and her unborn child.

Investigators located Anthony at a residence in the 1200 block of Quail Hunt Drive in Riverdale and took him into custody without incident.

Anthony has been charged with Murder-Malice, Feticide, and Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder, all felony offenses.

According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting occurred earlier in the day at a residence on Peppertree Circle in Decatur.

Anthony was transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox said law enforcement agencies worked quickly to locate and arrest the suspect following the shooting.

“This act of senseless violence claimed the lives of a young mother and her unborn child, devastating a family and our community,” Maddox said in a statement. “From the moment this tragic incident was reported, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service were committed to swiftly taking this individual into custody.”

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
