Operation Safe Streets Results in 41 Arrests, Seizure of Drugs and Firearms in Bibb County

MACON, Georgia – A coordinated 90-day law enforcement initiative targeting violent crime, illegal drugs, gang activity, and repeat offenders resulted in 41 arrests and the seizure of dozens of firearms and narcotics throughout Bibb County.

The operation, dubbed “Operation Safe Streets,” was conducted by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, Drug Unit, Strategic Intelligence Center, Crash Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Unit, the FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Georgia State Patrol.

According to the sheriff’s office, crime analysts identified a pattern of increased shots-fired incidents in high-crime areas, as well as ongoing criminal activity centered around convenience stores and commercial properties. Investigators also discovered overlap between narcotics trafficking, illegal firearm possession, and violent offenders with outstanding warrants.

As part of the operation, authorities executed search warrants, arrest warrants, and conducted targeted traffic enforcement throughout the county. Investigators recovered approximately 26 firearms, seven pounds of marijuana, 4.6 ounces of cocaine, 13 grams of methamphetamine, and 12 grams of fentanyl.

The 41 arrests included suspects accused of crimes ranging from murder and armed robbery to drug trafficking, aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary, and illegal firearm possession.

Among the most serious arrests:

  • Lorenzo Davis was arrested on charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
  • Daniel Dixon was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Machine Gun.
  • Melvin Tremel Williams was served warrants for False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree, and Probation Violation.

Several arrests involved firearms and narcotics investigations. Members of the Beard family — Sheldone Beard, Tyshelton Beard, and Shelvonta Beard — were arrested on charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II narcotics, and firearm-related offenses.

Four individuals — Jermaine Adaryll Bronner Jr., Michael Bernard Dean, Brandon Jeremiah Holloway, and Michaello Antonio James Sr. — were charged with marijuana distribution offenses, possession of prohibited weapons, and multiple counts of possessing firearms during the commission of felonies.

The operation also led to arrests involving aggravated assault cases, including Quanteria Ette, Jayce Burrell, Norman Coleman, Ricky Johnson, William Earl Lewis, Javon Granville, Walten Nesbitt, Adrian Wilburn, and Chaz Rozier.

Two juvenile suspects were arrested during the operation. One juvenile faces charges including aggravated assault and firearm offenses, while another was charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Sheriff David Davis said the operation demonstrates the impact of coordinated enforcement efforts.

“Every firearm seized, every dangerous drug removed from our streets, and every violent offender taken into custody makes our community safer,” Davis said. “Forty-one arrests and the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and 26 firearms represents a significant disruption to criminal networks that threaten the safety of our community.”

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office credited the FBI, United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Georgia State Patrol for assisting in the operation and said proactive enforcement efforts will continue throughout the county.
