Masked Gunman Shoots Store Clerk During Armed Robbery at Macon Texaco, Deputies Say

MACON, Ga. – A convenience store employee was shot during an armed robbery Sunday morning after a masked suspect lured the clerk away from the cash register by claiming a restroom was flooding, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at approximately 7:20 a.m. to the Texaco station located at 1212 Eisenhower Parkway after receiving reports of a commercial armed robbery and shooting.

Investigators said a masked man entered the store and asked to use the restroom. A short time later, he told an employee the restroom was flooding, causing the worker to leave the counter to investigate.

Once the employee stepped away, the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, a struggle broke out between the suspect and the employee. During the confrontation, the employee was shot.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where authorities said the employee was listed in stable condition.

The suspect fled the business on foot toward Laveta Drive.

Investigators described the suspect as a Black male wearing all black clothing, an orange safety vest and a mask covering his face.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the armed robbery and aggravated assault.
