Former Veterans Association Officer Charged With Stealing Organization Funds in Gwinnett County

GWINNETT COUNTY, Georgia – A former officer of a Gwinnett County veterans organization has been arrested and charged with multiple theft offenses after investigators determined he allegedly misused association funds for personal benefit.

According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Jail Intelligence Unit arrested William Schultz on May 29 following an investigation into the finances of the Central Gwinnett Veterans Association.

Investigators said they received information regarding the possible misuse of funds belonging to the organization. At the time of the alleged offenses, Schultz served as the association’s quartermaster, a position responsible for managing finances, paying bills, and making purchases on behalf of the group.

During the investigation, authorities determined that Schultz allegedly wrote four checks to himself and classified the transactions as loans. Investigators also allege he took cash from association funds for personal use.

As a result of the investigation, Schultz was charged with:

  • Four counts of Theft by Taking (Felony)
  • One count of Theft by Taking (Misdemeanor)

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the amount of money allegedly taken.

The case remains under investigation.
