Tucker Woman Arrested After Threats Against DeKalb County Sheriff

DECATUR, Georgia – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Tucker woman accused of sending threatening communications to DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox.

Authorities said 42-year-old Kimberly K. Nelldell was taken into custody by the sheriff’s office Criminal Process Unit on May 13 at approximately 10:31 p.m. in Clayton County.

Investigators charged Nelldell with felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor harassing communications.

According to officials, the charges stem from direct threats allegedly made toward Sheriff Maddox related to her duties as sheriff of DeKalb County.

The sheriff’s office noted that sheriffs and law enforcement officials across Georgia and the United States continue to face increasing threats and harassment connected to their public service roles.

“Public servants and law enforcement personnel are entrusted with upholding and enforcing the law, and individuals who threaten or attempt to intimidate them will be held accountable for their actions in DeKalb County,” Maddox said in a statement.

She added that the department takes all threats seriously and remains committed to protecting law enforcement personnel and the community.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and no additional information has been released.
