Savannah Police Address Resurfaced Viral Video, Confirm Prior Discipline of Officers

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah Police Department issued a statement addressing renewed attention to a past officer-involved incident that has recently circulated on social media.

According to the department, the video shows an encounter that occurred in August 2023 at Island Breeze.

Officials said the incident was previously investigated through an internal administrative review involving four officers. The investigation concluded in January 2024.

As a result of that review, three officers received disciplinary action, including suspensions and written reprimands related to reporting procedures, use-of-force policies and conduct. A fourth officer left the department before the investigation was completed.

Police said the matter was handled at the time in accordance with department policies and procedures.

The department emphasized its continued commitment to accountability, professionalism and ongoing evaluation of training and conduct standards.

Officials added that, because the matter has already been investigated and resolved internally, no further comment will be provided.
