Police Search for Suspect in Valdosta Nightclub Shooting, Need Public’s Help
VALDOSTA, Ga. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at a nightclub earlier this month, according to the Valdosta Police Department.
Kapreal Jamil Griffin, 46, is wanted on multiple felony charges stemming from a May 2 shooting at The Boardwalk Ultra Lounge, located at 2159 Bemiss Road.
Officers responded around 2:10 a.m. after a call from a member of the club’s private armed security company reporting a person had been shot. When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Police provided first aid until South Georgia Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the victim to a hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
Investigators determined Griffin was the alleged shooter and that he and the victim are known to each other.
On May 7, detectives obtained arrest warrants charging Griffin with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Griffin is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and 260 pounds, with short hair and facial hair. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities urge anyone who sees Griffin or knows his location to call 911. Police also warned that anyone assisting him in evading arrest could face criminal charges.
Officials noted the nightclub’s hired armed security personnel are not certified law enforcement officers.
