1,400 Files Discovered in Paulding County Child Exploitation Bust
PAULDING COUNTY, GA — A monthslong investigation into child exploitation has led to the arrest of a local man after authorities discovered more than 1,400 illicit files. Daniel Esquivel was taken into custody following a specialized probe that began with a digital “Cybertip” earlier this year.
Esquivel is currently facing 30 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children.
Digital Investigation and “Cybertips”
The case was initiated in January 2026 after the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office received information from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The initial report identified 117 files suspected of being child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Detectives spent several months tracing the digital footprint of the uploader, eventually identifying Esquivel through email addresses, phone numbers, and IP address data. Technical Services Unit (TSU) analysts ultimately confirmed a total of 10 distinct tips linked to the suspect.
Search Warrant and Forensic Discovery
On April 1, 2026, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Esquivel’s residence. During the raid, multiple electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis. According to investigators:
- Initial Findings: Review of the reported tips revealed 193 clips of graphic material.
- Seized Evidence: Total evidence recovered from the home exceeded 1,400 videos and photos, including more than 300 animated images.
- Suspect Statement: During an interview at the Sheriff’s Office, Esquivel reportedly waived his Miranda rights and admitted to possessing the material, noting there were potentially 300 additional videos in his possession.
Commitment to Protection
The investigation remains active as digital forensic experts continue to determine if the illegal material was shared with others. Paulding County Sheriff Ashley Henson praised the work of the detectives in a public statement, acknowledging the heavy emotional burden of the case.
“This case, like many that come to us every single day, takes an emotional toll on our detectives and our staff… Their dedication, commitment, and professionalism do not go unnoticed. Thank you for going above and beyond, especially when it comes to protecting our children.”
The Sheriff’s Office also issued a direct warning to others involved in similar activity: “We will find you.”
