Two Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit on I-75 Ends in Crash, Drug and Fraud Charges Filed
CRISP COUNTY, Ga. — Two Atlanta residents are facing multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 75 ended in a crash and the discovery of drugs and stolen identifying information, according to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle April 30 after clocking it traveling 84 mph on I-75. Authorities said the driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit.
Investigators said the vehicle exited at Exit 101, ran a red light at 16th Avenue and re-entered the interstate, driving recklessly across multiple lanes and the emergency shoulder. During the chase, a passenger threw a bag from the vehicle.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, which the driver avoided. Officials said a deputy sustained minor injuries during that effort.
The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle struck a red SUV. Emergency responders evaluated those involved, but no one was transported and all reported injuries were non-life-threatening.
A search of the discarded bag revealed marijuana and related materials. Deputies said a search of the vehicle uncovered multiple identification cards, W-2 forms and debit cards belonging to several individuals.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Jabria Wright of Atlanta, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, DUI, six counts of financial identity fraud, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and multiple traffic violations.
Passenger Saquario Davis, 24, also of Atlanta, was charged with six counts of financial identity fraud, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and abandonment of dangerous drugs.
The crash is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, and the Arabi Police Department assisted with traffic control. The case remains under investigation.
