Newnan Mother Accused of Giving Daughter Golf Club Used to Strike 14-Year-Old Girl in Head

NEWNAN, Ga. – A Newnan mother and her two teenage daughters have been arrested after police say the mother retrieved a golf club during a fight and handed it to her 16-year-old daughter, who then struck a 14-year-old girl in the head.

The 14-year-old victim remained hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday morning.

Newnan police responded around 6:39 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, to a 911 call reporting an assault with injuries on Ball Street.

Officers determined that a verbal dispute involving several juveniles had escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the altercation, police said the mother of two of the juveniles went to her apartment, retrieved a golf club and handed it to her 16-year-old daughter.

The 16-year-old then ran toward the 14-year-old girl and struck her in the head with the golf club, according to police.

As the fight continued, the 16-year-old’s 15-year-old sister took possession of the golf club and struck a second juvenile, investigators said. The second victim did not report any injuries.

The Newnan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit was called to the scene.

The 14-year-old was transported to an Atlanta-area hospital for treatment. Police said she remained hospitalized in stable condition as of 9 a.m. Sept. 1.

Police identified the mother as Curtisia Anya’ Heath, 36, of Newnan. She was arrested and booked into the Coweta County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault.

The two teenage girls were also arrested and transported to a regional youth detention center.

The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault. Her 16-year-old sister was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
