Macon Mayor Named One of Georgia’s 100 Most Influential Leaders
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller has been named one of Georgia Trend magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Georgians, earning statewide recognition for leadership rooted in community-focused progress.
Mayor Miller was honored during the Georgia Trend Top 100 Luncheon on Thursday, January 29, held at the Georgia Aquarium, where he also addressed fellow honorees from across the state.
Each year, Georgia Trend selects 100 individuals whose leadership positively impacts their organizations and communities while helping shape Georgia’s future. The list spans government, business, education, and nonprofit sectors and highlights what the publication describes as a shared “strength of purpose.”
In his remarks, Mayor Miller stressed that influence should be measured by results in people’s lives, not by titles or recognition.
“To me, standing here is not the goal,” Miller said. “The goal is to create a better community for the people around us.”
He pointed to partnerships as the driving force behind progress in Macon-Bibb County, citing major initiatives such as the removal of more than 800 blighted structures, expanded access to mental health and youth programs, and the opening of the Brookdale Resource Center, which connects people experiencing homelessness with services and pathways to stable housing.
Mayor Miller closed by encouraging leaders across Georgia to use their platforms to deliver tangible improvements where they live and serve.
“Today isn’t about celebrating individuals,” he said. “It’s about celebrating what is possible in our communities when we work together.”
Other Macon-area leaders recognized in the Top 100 include Will Bentley, President of the Agribusiness Council, and Tim Lowrimore, President and CEO of the Georgia Forestry Association and Georgia Forestry Foundation. Stephen Adams, Executive Director of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, and Jessica Walden, President and CEO of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, were named as Notable Georgians.
