Wanted Driver Accused of Fleeing Bibb County Deputies Through School Parking Lot

MACON, Ga. – A 62-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested Tuesday after Bibb County deputies said he fled from a traffic stop and drove recklessly through a school parking lot during a brief pursuit.

Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office C.I.T.E. Unit attempted to stop the driver of a Honda CR-V in the area of Pio Nono Avenue and Vineville Avenue on August 25, 2026.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver, identified as 62-year-old Randy Cooper, accelerated away from deputies instead of stopping.

Deputies said Cooper drove recklessly through a school parking lot while attempting to get away. The pursuit continued until deputies apprehended him near Roff Avenue.

During the investigation, deputies determined Cooper was driving with a suspended license and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Cooper was charged with Aggressive Driving, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offense, Driving While License Suspended, Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers and Probation Violation.

His bond was set at $7,050.
