High-Speed DUI Chase Ends With Arrest In Macon

MACON, Georgia – A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy took an intoxicated driver into custody following a dangerous high-speed pursuit over the holiday weekend.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division Deputy John Kile attempted to stop a Chevrolet Camaro on Pio Nono Avenue after observing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving within its lane.

Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated away, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. During the pursuit, the suspect struck a stop sign, a street sign, and vent pipes connected to underground fuel tanks at a gas station, creating a serious public safety risk.

After coming to a stop, the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Deputies deployed a Taser, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and a probation violation.

The suspect was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center for booking. No injuries were reported during the incident.
