MACON, GA – A traffic stop along Gray Highway led to the arrest of a suspected narcotics trafficker and the seizure of a large cache of drugs and cash, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team took the suspect into custody after stopping a Chevrolet Malibu whose driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Authorities say the man resisted arrest and had to be forcefully detained at the scene.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a backpack containing what they described as a significant amount of suspected illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, ecstasy, assorted pills, and marijuana. Investigators also found a large amount of U.S. currency in mixed denominations inside the vehicle’s glove box.

The suspect was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and now faces a long list of charges. Those include three counts of trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana, or methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of Schedule I or II controlled substances with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, purchase or possession of marijuana, criminal trespass, and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
