Man Found Guilty of Aggravated Sexual Battery and Child Molestation in Newton County
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga.—A Newton County jury convicted Ronnie Grier on Wednesday morning, October 22nd, of multiple felony counts related to the sexual abuse of a child.
Grier was found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Battery, two counts of Child Molestation, and two counts of Sexual Battery Against a Child Under 16.
The investigation began in 2022 when the Newton County Sheriff’s Office obtained incriminating admissions from Grier during an interview with an investigator. Although Grier was initially released on bond, his bond was later revoked in the weeks leading up to the trial after authorities discovered he had violated bond conditions concerning contact with the victim and a witness.
Grier remains in custody awaiting a sentencing hearing.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Bailey Wilkinson, with assistance from Chief Investigator Kelly Whire, Investigator Randy Temples, and the entire prosecution support team. A Child’s Voice Child Advocacy Center provided critical services to the victim.
Related Conviction for Terroristic Threats and Cruelty to Children
This conviction marks the second successful jury trial for Deputy Chief ADA Wilkinson this week. In a prior trial that began on Monday, October 13, the same team secured the conviction of Edward Ricky Fulton, Jr. for two counts of Terroristic Threats and five counts of Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree. Fulton was investigated by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and is also awaiting sentencing.
