Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After SWAT Standoff in Marietta

MARIETTA, Ga. — A Marietta man was taken into custody early Saturday morning following an armed robbery involving a taxi driver and a SWAT response.

Police say the incident began just after midnight when officers were called to Carolyn Street and Wallace Road. Universal Taxicab driver Anderson Rojas told officers he had driven a customer, later identified as 40-year-old Jevelious Bryant, from South Marietta Parkway to Carolyn Street. When they arrived, Bryant allegedly threw a handful of coins at Rojas instead of paying the fare, then refused to pay and pulled a black handgun when confronted.

Rojas fled on foot and called police. Officers attempted to contact Bryant at his residence but received no response. A search warrant was obtained, and Marietta SWAT officers responded around 5 a.m. By 7:30 a.m., all occupants had exited the home safely, and Bryant was taken into custody without further incident.

Bryant was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on multiple charges, including:

  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm (F)
  • Simple Battery (M)
  • Theft of Services (M)
  • Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce (M)
  • Aggravated Assault with a Weapon (F)

No injuries were reported during the incident.
