Sandy Springs, GA – On Wednesday, September 10, Joshua Paul Allen entered a guilty plea in Fulton County Superior Court after admitting to threatening to kill his fiancée, stabbing her dog to death, and attempting to cover up the crime.

Allen was convicted of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, Terroristic Threats, and Tampering with Evidence.

Police said the incident happened on February 11 after Allen argued with his fiancée over the phone as she drove home. Moments later, she witnessed the brutal attack on her dog through her home security cameras, which were live streaming to her phone.

“She witnessed on her cellphone, from residential cameras, him strangling and then stabbing the dog to death,” said Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Leon Millholland.
“There’s images of him pouring Clorox and trying to get the blood up and putting the remains of the dog inside a trash bag.”

Prosecutors argued for a lengthy sentence, while the defense requested five years, serving only two. The judge rejected the defense’s request, instead sentencing Allen to 11 years in prison with no chance of probation or parole.

The Sandy Springs Police Department and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office were credited for their coordinated work in securing the conviction and sentence.
