Brunswick Teen Arrested After Handgun Incident Involving Minor

A 17-year-old Brunswick man, Traveon Jordan, was arrested on February 5th following an investigation into a December 2024 incident in which a 3-year-old accidentally shot himself after finding an unsecured handgun.

The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) responded to the scene in December where the young child sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand. Investigators later determined that Jordan had left the handgun unattended and within reach of the minor. Further investigation revealed that Jordan had unlawfully possessed the firearm.

GCPD detectives obtained arrest warrants for Jordan, charging him with Second-Degree Cruelty to Children, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18. On February 5th, detectives spotted Jordan at a business on Altama Avenue, where he fled upon seeing law enforcement. He was apprehended shortly after and surrendered without further incident.

During his flight, Jordan discarded the handgun onto a nearby roof, which was later recovered with assistance from Glynn County Fire/Rescue. He was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center on charges including Obstruction of Peace Officers, and multiple firearm-related offenses.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Glynn County Police Department at (912) 554-3645 or anonymously via Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333.
