Former Dealership Employee Arrested After $16,000 in Tires, Wheels Stolen from Brunswick Auto Dealer
GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – A former dealership employee has been arrested after investigators say he stole more than $16,000 worth of tires, wheels and other vehicle parts from a Brunswick automobile dealership.
The Glynn County Police Department began investigating the case on Aug. 3 after Nalley Buick GMC of Brunswick reported that vehicle parts had gone missing following the termination of an employee.
According to investigators, surveillance video captured 30-year-old Wenly Geffrard returning to the dealership on multiple occasions and stealing tires, rims and center caps.
Officer Jones led the investigation, which determined that Geffrard allegedly stole more than $16,000 worth of merchandise over several separate incidents.
Based on the evidence gathered, investigators obtained a search warrant for Geffrard’s residence on Melvin Lane.
At approximately 7:06 a.m. on Aug. 6, officers from the Patrol Division and members of the Criminal Investigations Division executed the search warrant.
During the search, investigators recovered multiple stolen items, which were returned to Nalley Buick GMC.
Geffrard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Glynn County Police Department for questioning before being booked into the Glynn County Detention Center.
He has been charged with three counts of second-degree burglary.
Investigators also discovered Geffrard had active warrants from other states.
The Glynn County Police Department credited Officer Jones’ investigation and the cooperation between the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division for recovering the stolen property and bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
The investigation remains active.
