Rome Man Arrested on Federal Charges for Threatening the President
ROME, Ga. — Jauan Rashun Porter, 29, of Rome, was arrested and detained on August 7, 2025, on federal charges for knowingly and willfully making threats against the President of the United States.
According to court legal documents, on July 26, 2025, Porter joined a TikTok livestream titled “Alligator Alcatraz,” where he allegedly stated, “So there’s only one way to make America great and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes.” Over several minutes, Porter allegedly made additional threats, including saying, “I’m gonna kill Donald Trump. I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside his forehead,” and “I’m gonna watch him bleed out and I’m gonna watch him die… I’m gonna do that.” When questioned about federal agents potentially coming to his door, Porter reportedly said, “I’m gonna kill them too.”
During the investigation, agents from the United States Secret Service, Floyd County Police, and Georgia probation officers searched Porter’s residence and seized two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite, an explosive material. Porter has a prior criminal record including terroristic threats, influencing a witness, mutiny in a penal institution, drug possession, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and domestic violence. He is currently on probation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Walter E. Johnson ordered Porter’s detention pending a hearing set for August 12, 2025. Porter faces charges under a criminal complaint, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg emphasized the seriousness of threats against public officials, stating, “We do not tolerate threats against public officials or law enforcement officers.”
The case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service with support from the Floyd County Police Department, Floyd County District Attorney’s Office, and Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Michael Pearce is prosecuting.
