GBI Investigates In-Custody Death Following Atlanta Domestic Dispute

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the in-custody death of 39-year-old Edward Bailey following a domestic dispute in Atlanta.
On March 28, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Atlanta Police responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire during a domestic dispute at a home on William Nye Drive. Upon arrival, officers saw Bailey flee the residence, jumping over fences into neighboring yards before being taken into custody.
Officers noticed Bailey’s leg was bleeding and provided medical aid before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body was taken to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The GBI is conducting an independent investigation, and upon completion, the case will be forwarded to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
