Southwest High School Basketball Team in Macon Honored After Playoff Run

The Southwest High School boys varsity basketball team was recognized during a Macon-Bibb County Commission meeting on Tuesday, March 18, for their achievements as Region Champions and State Division IA Runner-Ups. The Patriots finished the season with an impressive 27-3 record.
A proclamation was issued declaring March 18 as Southwest Patriots Boys Varsity Basketball Team Day.
“For you all to band together and do something positive, I love it,” District 8 Commissioner Donice Bryant told the team. “I’m always going to be your number one fan when you’re out there doing something right.”
Mayor Lester Miller, a Southwest High School alumnus, also praised the team’s success. “As a Southwest Patriot myself, I am so proud of you all,” he said.
The team’s success has been credited to their dedication, discipline, and hard work, which have inspired students, faculty, and the broader community. Head coach Monquenvio Hardnett and his coaching staff played a crucial role in leading the team, emphasizing determination, integrity, and leadership both on and off the court.
