Passenger Apprehended at Atlanta Airport with Over 40 Pounds of Drugs

On March 14, 2025, officers with the Atlanta Police Department’s Airport Drug Interdiction Unit apprehended a passenger suspected of transporting narcotics at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Authorities were alerted to the passenger, who had arrived from Ontario International Airport. An airport K-9 officer conducted an open-air sniff of the arriving flight’s luggage, which led to a positive alert on a piece of checked baggage.
Upon searching the luggage, officers recovered approximately 35.8 pounds of methamphetamine and 4.6 pounds of fentanyl.
The passenger was taken into custody without incident. Homeland Security Investigations is continuing the investigation.
