Man Convicted of Murder in 2022 Toombs County Shooting Death

Aaron Coleman was convicted by a Toombs County jury on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, for the December 2022 killing of John “Buck” Tomason.

Coleman was found guilty of felony murder, criminal damage to property in the first degree, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Chief Judge Reeves sentenced Coleman to life in prison with the possibility of parole, followed by an additional five years for the firearm charge.

The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Region 12 were commended for their work on the investigation.

District Attorney Tripp Fitzner prosecuted the case, assisted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Solomon.

The victim’s family was present during the trial.
