Long County Commissioner and Business Owner Arrested on Theft, RICO Charges

Long County Commissioner Robert Donald Parker, 38, and Tony Edward Fowler, 30, a local business owner, have been arrested following an investigation into the misappropriation of county funds.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Parker and Fowler on February 27, 2025. Parker is charged with:

  • Three counts of Theft by Taking
  • One count of Violation of Oath of Office
  • One count of Aggravated Assault
  • Violation of the Georgia Racketeering Act (RICO)

Fowler is charged with two counts of Theft by Taking.

Earlier in the day, the GBI, with assistance from multiple agencies, executed search warrants at the homes of Parker, Fowler, and a third individual. Investigators seized numerous items of evidence that will be analyzed.

The investigation began on August 30, 2024, at the request of the Long County Sheriff’s Office, regarding alleged misappropriation of county funds. The investigation has revealed that multiple individuals stole money from Long County through various schemes for personal gain.

Parker and Fowler were booked into the Tatnall County Jail.

The GBI stated that the investigation is active and ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
