Father and Son Arrested in White County Drug and Weapons Investigation

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, White County Narcotics Investigations and Crime Suppression Units arrested two men following a drug and weapons investigation at a residence on Blue Water Drive in Cleveland, Georgia.

Investigators received information that 33-year-old Danny Shane Helton was selling methamphetamine in the White County area. Further investigation revealed he had an outstanding probation violation warrant out of Habersham County. At approximately 9:00 AM, officers arrived at the residence to serve the warrant and obtained probable cause to secure a search warrant.

During the search, investigators seized 517 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of methamphetamine, two hydrocodone pills, three firearms, digital scales, and drug-related paraphernalia. Both Danny Shane Helton and his father, 65-year-old Danny Lee Helton, were found to be convicted felons.

Both men were arrested and charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses.

Danny Lee Helton, 65, of Cleveland, GA, was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone)
  • Possession of Marijuana Greater Than One Ounce
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects

Danny Shane Helton, 33, of Cleveland, GA, was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone)
  • Possession of Marijuana Greater Than One Ounce
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Three Counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects

Both suspects were transported to the White County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
