Sheriff Levon Allen, alongside his Black Hawk and Cobra units, spotted Steele on Tara Boulevard and initiated another traffic stop on Highway 54, just in front of Mundy’s Mill High School. Steele sped away, reaching speeds over 100 mph, as he entered Fayette County.
The pursuit ended when Steele caused a crash at the intersection of Banks Road and Fayetteville Road, T-boning a civilian vehicle. Deputies quickly assisted the injured person, but Steele managed to flee on foot.
Authorities from the Atlanta Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and Clayton County Sheriff’s Office are actively pursuing Steele, who is considered armed and dangerous. The vehicle he was driving was registered to a family member.
