Toccoa Woman Arrested for Child Cruelty and Assault After Missing Child Report
On Thursday night, January 16, Stephens County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a missing juvenile. Deputies searched and the Sheriff’s Office put out an alert on the missing boy saying he had last been seen in the area of Pine Tree Road near Whispering Pines Drive in Eastanollee. The 11-year-old boy was located the following morning at approximately 11:45 a.m.
After an investigation involving witness statements and physical evidence, authorities secured a search warrant for the home of Ruth Victoria Everett, 41, of Toccoa. Deputies executed the warrant on Friday evening, where Everett was taken into custody without incident.
During the search, investigators uncovered additional evidence that supported allegations made during the investigation. Everett was transported to the Stephens County Jail, where she faces charges of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree, and Aggravated Assault under the Family Violence Act.
Everett remains incarcerated at the Stephens County Jail, with her bond set at $50,000.
