Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. announced that Andrea Latrice McCord, 36, pled guilty to kidnapping her then-four-year-old daughter and was sentenced to five years in prison without the possibility of parole, followed by 15 years of probation.

In April 2021, McCord abducted her daughter from the home of the child’s father, James Williams, without custody rights. McCord fled with her boyfriend, Custodio Guerra, and the pair were later found with the child in Mexico after a two-year search by local and federal authorities.

The case began when Williams reported his daughter missing after McCord left his home with the child. The investigation was conducted by the Smyrna Police Department, in collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the U.S. Marshals.

“This sentence reflects the seriousness of this crime and its lasting impact on the victim and her family. The safety and well-being of children must always be our top priority,” said District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief District Attorney Lindsay Raynor, while McCord represented herself in court.
