Late on the evening of November 1, 2024, around 11:13 p.m., officers from Atlanta Police Department Zone 5 responded to reports of a physical altercation at 775 Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW, an area with mixed commercial and residential properties. Upon arrival, officers located a 54-year-old man who had sustained visible injuries. Identified as an off-duty Fulton County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) officer, the victim was working an extra job at the location when the incident occurred.

Preliminary information indicates that the officer and an unidentified suspect became involved in a verbal dispute while he was on duty at the site. The argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving the officer injured.
