Suspect Arrested in Atlanta Edgewood Avenue Shooting That Left One Dead, 10 Injured
On August 8, 2025, Atlanta police arrested Rico T. Arnold, 19, during a traffic stop in Clayton County. Arnold faces charges including murder and 10 counts of aggravated assault related to a mass shooting that occurred on July 28, 2025.
The incident began around 1:27 a.m. at 349 Edgewood Avenue SE, where officers found an unresponsive male victim with a fatal gunshot wound. Additional emergency calls reported more shooting victims nearby. Authorities discovered seven male and three female victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All survivors were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving three males and one female that escalated into gunfire. Multiple law enforcement units, including the Atlanta Police Homicide and Fugitive Unit, APEX, ACE, Aviation Unit Phoenix, Riverdale Police, and the FBI Violent Crime Squad, participated in the investigation.
Authorities are continuing to gather witness statements, review evidence, and analyze surveillance footage. The investigation remains active.
