Five Arrested in Connection to Fatal Shooting at Elberton Homecoming Party

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged five individuals in connection to the death of a 15-year-old and the shooting of several others at a homecoming after-party on October 12 in Elberton, Elbert County, Georgia. The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI’s involvement following the incident, which took place on Evergreen Drive shortly before midnight.

The suspects, all from Anderson, South Carolina, face multiple charges:

  • Jarquavious Scott, 18, charged with Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Arrested on October 17.
  • Destanne Mathis, 20, charged with Murder, Party to a Crime, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Arrested on October 28.
  • Aanidras Parks, 18, charged with Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Arrested on October 28.
  • Jerimiyah Hughes, 19, charged with Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Arrested on October 30.
  • Desmond Latimer, 18, charged with Murder, Party to a Crime, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Arrested on October 30.

The shooting resulted in the death of a 15-year-old, with four others sustaining gunshot wounds and three additional individuals injured. All suspects are currently held at the Elbert County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing.
