Atlanta Police Arrest Three Wanted Suspects, Recover Five Firearms During Violent Crime Investigation

ATLANTA, Ga. Atlanta police arrested three wanted suspects and recovered five firearms while conducting a follow-up investigation into a recent shooting at an apartment complex in southwest Atlanta, authorities said.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, investigators with the Violent Crime Interdiction Section were conducting a post-incident canvas on July 17 at an apartment complex in the 300 block of McDaniel Street Southwest following a dwelling shooting at the location.

During the investigation, officers identified a known gang member with active arrest warrants inside one of the apartments. Investigators developed a plan to safely call the suspect out of the residence, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Rodney Grant, who was wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated assault and gang-related charges.

While continuing their canvas of the property, investigators located two additional individuals with outstanding warrants.

Police arrested 21-year-old Leglance Mallory, who was wanted on warrants charging him with four counts of aggravated assault, second-degree criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and gang-related offenses.

Investigators also arrested 20-year-old Jarquez Kelley, who was wanted on charges including second-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, two counts of entering an automobile and theft by taking.

Following the arrests, officers searched the area and recovered five firearms.

The Atlanta Police Department did not release additional details about the dwelling shooting that prompted the investigation or indicate whether the recovered firearms were connected to that case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
