Atlanta’s Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Utah in Connection With 2023 Double Homicide

ATLANTA, Ga. – An Atlanta man listed among the city’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives has been arrested in Utah in connection with a 2023 double homicide, bringing all three suspects charged in the case into custody, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Rodreiko Brittone Russell was apprehended July 27 in South Jordan, Utah, by Atlanta Police Department detectives working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators said Russell was wanted for his alleged role in the fatal shootings of two men on April 20, 2023.

According to police, the arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation, a Crime Stoppers tip and coordinated efforts between the Atlanta Police Department and the FBI.

The investigation began around 6 a.m. on April 20, 2023, when officers assigned to Zone 1 responded to the 2000 block of Main Street NW after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was not alert, conscious or breathing and was pronounced dead at the scene by Grady EMS.

At nearly the same time, officers responded to another reported shooting in the 2400 block of Abner Terrace, where they found a second man who had been shot. He was transported by Grady EMS to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to both crime scenes and determined the shootings were connected. During the investigation, detectives recovered a vehicle at a residence in the 1500 block of Abner Terrace that investigators believe was linked to both homicides.

With Russell’s arrest, police said all three suspects char ged in the double homicide are now in custody. Russell remains at the Salt Lake County Jail awaiting extradition to Georgia. The two other suspects were Kmauri Burnett and John’Kevious Anderson.

The investigation remains ongoing.
