Carjacking Suspects Flee into Woods After Police Pursuit in Coweta County
Wanted suspect

On Monday, October 28, 2024, deputies from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a carjacking at an address on Hyde Circle. The victim reported that two black males, both armed with handguns, approached her and forcibly took her vehicle at gunpoint.

Quickly acting on the information, a deputy located the stolen vehicle traveling on GA 34. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle failed to yield, leading to a brief pursuit. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed near the 1100 block of Lora Smith Road, following a Precision Intervention Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver executed by law enforcement.

After the crash, the suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Responding to the scene, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office deployed K9 and Drone Teams to aid in the search for the suspects.

One of the suspects, believed to be a juvenile, was apprehended shortly thereafter in a wooded line. However, the second suspect remains at large. He is described as a light-skinned black male, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, light-colored shorts, and light-colored shoes.

Two handguns were recovered from the scene, contributing to the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 and advised against approaching the remaining suspect.

Due to the proximity of the incident, Arnall Middle School and White Oak Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The investigation into the carjacking and subsequent pursuit is ongoing.
