Fugitive Arrested in Connection to 2023 Murder of Columbus Man
In the early morning of October 8, 2024, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, along with the United States Marshal’s Service, apprehended 18-year-old fugitive Jadarious Greene. Greene was wanted in connection to the September 2023 murder of 21-year-old Javon Smith at Wilson Apartments.
Greene was arrested without incident and faces several charges, including:

The incident leading to Smith’s death occurred on September 21, 2023, when Columbus Police responded to the 3400 block of 8th Avenue (Wilson Apartments) and discovered Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Greene had been evading law enforcement following the investigation, which identified him as a suspect, prompting the issuance of warrants for his arrest. The Columbus Police Department had previously circulated alerts seeking assistance in capturing him.
