Columbus Murder Suspect Captured in Dallas, Texas

Marcus Harris, 48, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 39-year-old Derrick Jordan. The incident occurred on May 30, 2024, on 12th Street, prompting an investigation by the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.

On that night, at approximately 10:19 p.m., officers responded to reports of a person down in the 300 block of 12th Street. Upon arrival, they found Jordan lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported him to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he was pronounced dead at 11:12 p.m.

Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified Harris as a suspect. On September 17, 2024, he was apprehended in Dallas, Texas, and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
