Verbal Dispute Over Laundry Leads to Fatal Shooting in Conyers

On Thursday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 8:25 PM, deputies from the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a person-shot call in the 3000 block of Barcelona Way. Upon arrival, deputies found a 23-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Investigators revealed that a verbal altercation over laundry had occurred between the victim and 24-year-old Deshaun Khalil Elder approximately one hour before the shooting.

Elder was still at the scene when law enforcement arrived and was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, and Aggravated Assault.

The investigation remains ongoing.
